Our parent company is Chugai Pharmaceutical Co. Ltd. (Chugai), and was founded in 1925 in Tokyo Japan. Chugai is a member of the Roche Group.
What is the relationship between Chugai Pharma U.S.A., LLC (CPUSA), Chugai, and the Roche Group? CPUSA is a wholly-owned subsidiary of Chugai. Chugai is a publicly traded company in Japan, with Roche as the major shareholder (currently holding 59.9% of outstanding shares). Even with Roche as the major shareholder, Chugai retains operational autonomy inside Japan, and at its subsidiaries, including CPUSA. However, Chugai and Roche do maintain close collaboration on certain global development projects.
